Want to Lead with more Empathy, Connection, and Courage? Read the book, dare to lead, by Brené Brown

Updated: Jun 8, 2020

The author, Brené Brown, knows how to weave stories and examples throughout her book, dare to lead, to help the reader connect with the material and more easily be able to apply it to their lives.

Since we are all leaders in one form or another in our lives - perhaps a teacher, a parent, a manager in the workplace, or the catch-all which is leaders of ourselves - there are many pearls of wisdom on leadership to grab ahold of in this book and incorporate into our lives.

Here are a few examples:

  • We need to trust to be vulnerable, and we need to be vulnerable in order to build trust.

  • Courage is contagious.

  • Daring leaders must care for and be connected to the people they lead.

  • Self-awareness and self-love matter. Who we are is how we lead.

  • Clear is kind.

For those familiar with Positive Discipline, you'll notice familiar concepts, which makes the material easier to assimilate. It's one thing to read and/or know something, it's another thing to be able to apply it, and thanks to Brené Brown, who has a free downloadable workbook to accompany this book on her website, www.brenebrown.com, practicing these concepts will be easier. Here's to daring to lead more effectively!
